Decades of Experience in the Manufacturing of Butyl Rubber Gaskets
Butyl rubber is another common sheet rubber compound used in the manufacturing of gaskets and seals, primarily for the industrial market. SRP has been providing custom converted butyl rubber components to various industries for many years. Butyl rubber gaskets can be manufactured and supplied in a variety of different shapes, sizes, thicknesses, and densities. SRP can custom laminate tapes to butyl rubber materials to create an adhesive backed component for a part that requires adhesion to various surfaces. Butyl rubber gaskets are impermeable to air and used in many applications requiring airtight seals.
Butyl rubber gaskets have outstanding resistance to:
- Heat aging
- and Tearing
Butyl rubber gaskets also have excellent resistance to most acids and alkalis, and is good for electrical insulation applications. It has a wide temperature range of -49°F to + 302°F. Butyl rubber gaskets have a very low resilience, which makes it ideal for applications requiring vibration dampening and shock absorption, but offers only a moderate resistance to abrasion and compression. All Butyl rubber gaskets can be supplied with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive tapes. The type of PSA used will depend on the surface the parts will be adhering too. We stock a wide variety of adhesives in our warehouse from suppliers such as 3M, Adchem, and Avery.
We provide application solutions for gasketing, cushioning, sealing, protecting, shielding and more! We can supply samples of materials and run quick prototyping if any material or part testing is required. Design assistance is also available to ensure the proper materials are being used per the application.
