SRP Converts And Stocks A Variety Of Thin Plastics And Film Products That Can Be Custom Converted Into Electrical Barrier Gaskets
SRP has the capabilities to manufacture custom plastic and film gaskets, seals, and insulators for a wide variety of industries and applications. Our capabilities include: die-cutting, knife cutting, rotary die-cutting, waterjet cutting, and laser cutting.
Plastics and films generally have good aging properties and will not deteriorate over time. Most plastic and film materials are strong and flexible having a high tensile strength, flexibility, durability as well as dimensional stability. Premium plastics and film products have low shrinkage, low moisture absorption, good dielectric properties and high thermal resistance.
SRP typically converts or die-cuts plastics and films ranging from .001” to .125” thick. However, when utilizing our waterjet, we can cut plastics up to .250” thick. All gaskets, seals, and insulators are cut per our customers specifications, and can be supplied with a pressure sensitive adhesive. We can manufacture custom jobs from sampling and prototyping, to short runs and full production.

Formex™ electrical insulation products are crafted of durable and flexible polypropylene material, offering superior protection for sensitive electronic components & machinery such as air baffles or other baffles, and serve as a barrier to prevent consumers and service workers from experiencing electric shock. Its superior dielectric strength, dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture and chemicals make it the top choice for engineers and designers. Unlike other heat insulating materials, Formex™ electrical heat insulation materials provide lightweight, flame retardant protection that meet strict safety and environmental standards at a low cost.
Statex™ is a resilient static dissipative material that serves as an electrical barrier to both insulate and protect electronic components from electrostatic discharge. Constructed from durable Formex™ polypropylene, this proprietary formula offers exceptional dielectric strength, moisture resistance and dimensional stability, while meeting strict safety and environmental standards.
Teflon® PTFE is the material of choice for gaskets, vessel linings, pump interiors, washers, rings, seals, spacers, dip tubes and well-drilling components because it is corrosion resistant and chemically inert; it is unaffected by virtually all acids and caustics and functions in environments to 500 degrees F.
ABS is an opaque thermoplastic that possesses a diverse combination of properties. This material has great resistance to chemicals, heat and impact. ABS is generally a good, low cost solution, and is easy to fabricate and die-cut. ABS is an ideal material for structural applications when impact resistance, strength, and stiffness are required.
Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer with variable crystalline structure and an extremely large range of applications depending on the particular type. There is a vast array of applications for polyethylene in which certain types are more or less well suited. Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) is a very flexible material with very unique flow properties that makes it particularly suitable to plastic film applications. LDPE has high ductility but low tensile strength. High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is a strong, high density, moderately stiff plastic with a highly crystalline structure.
Kapton® polyimide films have set the industry standard for over 45 years in high performance, reliability and durability, with a unique combination of electrical, thermal, chemical and mechanical properties that withstand extreme temperature, vibration and other demanding environments. For applications where extremes of heat and vibration are the norm, designers rely on Kapton® film gaskets because of its ability to maintain its unique combination of mechanical properties under the harshest of conditions.
Melinex® Polyester (PET) Film
Melinex® is a widely used film found in hundreds of industrial, electronic, printing, imaging, specialty and consumer products. One of the major benefits of Melinex® is its flexing resistance capabilities. Other benefits include resistance to solvents and embrittlement. Melinex® has excellent performance at elevated temperatures (up to 446ºF) due to the crystallization process. Melinex® film gaskets offer superior thermal stability.
Mylar® Polyester (PET) Film
Mylar® is a DuPont® developed and manufactured polyester (PET) film. Mylar® does not become brittle with age under normal conditions because there are no plasticizers, it is archival quality, dimensionally stable, chemical resistant, color consistent, has good clarity, is non-yellowing and non-tearing, with a temperature range of -100 to 300F. Mylar® film gaskets are electrically insulating, have balanced tensile properties, and excellent moisture resistance.
VALOX™ is a flame retardant polybutylene terephthalate film offering good temperature resistance and excellent dielectric strength. VALOX™ film is available in a polished/matte surface and in translucent white or black colors. With its low moisture absorption and excellent chemical resistance, VALOX™ is commonly used for laminated EMI/RFI shields. VALOX™ film’s outstanding dielectric strength and ease of fabrication makes it very suitable for a wide range of applications in the electronics industry for components requiring barrier insulation. VALOX® meets UL94 V-0 at 25 mils, UL94 VTM-0 at 5 mils, and meets UL-1950, IEC 950. It is also puncture resistant, and offers high dimensional stability.
Lexan® Polycarbonate Film
Lexan® Polycarbonate is an excellent thermal insulator, and has a strong, impact resistant, glass-like surface. Considered a thermoplastic, Lexan® is used in applications requiring a wide temperature service range, excellent dialectical and chemical properties, and dimensional stability. Lexan® film’s other qualities include: high durability, design flexibility, and structural integrity. It provides excellent clarity, light transmission and UV stability. Lexan® is flame retardant and has UL94 V-0 or VTM-O ratings.
Rigid Vinyl (PVC)
Rigid Vinyl (PVC) is a thermoplastic polymer used in a variety of applications. PVC is known for its excellent flame resistance, strength, and impact resistance. Its relatively low cost, chemical resistance, and outstanding workability have made PVC ideal for use in applications where high cost or the possibility of corrosion limit the use of metal. Rigid Vinyl Film accepts ink and color well, and embossing retention is exceptional.
