Neoprene/EPDM/SBR Sponge Gaskets For General Purpose Applications
SRP has been providing custom converted Neoprene/EPDM/SBR Sponge products to various industries for many years. Neoprene/EPDM/SBR Sponge gaskets can be manufactured and supplied in a variety of different shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. SRP can custom laminate tapes to Neoprene/EPDM/SBR Sponge materials to create an adhesive backed component for a part that requires adhesion to various surfaces.
This particular closed cell sponge is a blend of… you guessed it. Neoprene, EPDM, and SBR! The combination of these three polymers create a material that is great for general purpose applications the require durability. Blends are typically more cost effective than each material in their purest forms. This blend has a temperature range of -70° F to 225° F, and a durometer rating of 40-60.
What Do Each Of These Polymers Have To Offer?
- Neoprene materials are known for their resistance to oils, gases, alkalis, and acids. Neoprene also brings durability with its good resistance to flame, abrasion and flex cracking, and weather-ability.
- EPDM, like Neoprene, also has moderate weather resistance properties. Where it outperforms Neoprene is its resistance to aromatic and oxygenated solvents, and flexibility at low temperatures.
- SBR is known for its superior physical strength and resistance to physical abrasions, which makes up for the bulk of the durability property in the blend.
We provide application solutions for gasketing, cushioning, sealing, protecting, shielding and more! We can supply samples of materials and run quick prototyping if any material or part testing is required. Design assistance is also available to ensure the proper materials are being used per the application.
